School Clubs
Being in school clubs has given me the chance to meet new people and learn new skills I would have never known otherwise. Through co-leading and co-founding clubs at Riverdale, I have grown my curiosity and intellect in the STEM and social justice fields. I have collaborated with underclassmen, upperclassmen, and faculty to redesign school merch, raise gender-inequality awareness, and complete club-specific projects.
Student Faculty Council
Upper School Co-President
Improving Riverdale for current and future students, faculty, and staff gave me an appreciation for the administrative work people do every day. I was elected by 700+ students and faculty last spring. Now, I lead meetings with grade representatives, collaborate with other faculty council members to improve day-to-day and general school activities, and host several school assemblies.
Psychology Club
Co-leader
I help plan and facilitate meetings with over 25 club members, where we host guest speakers who provide insight into their career paths. Getting an inside understanding of how to navigate this profession gave me confidence in doing it for myself in the future.
Consent Culture Student Action Committee
Member
In sophomore year, I helped plan our first-ever school-wide consent summit. Since then, I help to plan it annually, lead discussions on consent culture within the community, and give feedback on health education curriculum. Being able to have a say in how we educate ourselves on consent empowered other students and me to improve how we talk about consent in the future.
fEmpower Affinity
Co-founder and Co-leader
Raising awareness for stereotypes and gender issues taught me how important it is to bring up these difficult conversations. I planned awareness meetings and lead student group discussions concerning gender roles and the adversity women historically and presently face.
Women in STEM
Co-founder and Co-leader
This outreach club was specifically designed to focus on challenges facing women in STEM. To help make the industry less daunting, I invited and hosted guest speakers to talk about their experiences. I also planned activities to better familiarize students with the field.
Girls Who Code
Member
I joined Girls Who Code to learn coding fundamentals and meet new people I would otherwise have never met. As a team, we learned the building blocks of code, researched influential women in technology, and completed coding-related projects.
Riverdale Merchandise Redesign
Organizer
Another way I got to improve future student and faculty experiences (while flexing my creativity) was to help organize a redesign of school merchandise. We expanded the product range and used student feedback to expand the collaboration to the entire student body.
